Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape. It is no secret that fire is dangerous and it is fast. Having a plan set in place for every member of the household is critical in saving lives. Kids are smarter than we give them credit for, they are never too young to learn fire safety and should be included in helping to create escape plans. If you have an elderly or disabled person within the residence make plans for how to get them out safely before a fire happens. Pets are our family too, you can purchase stickers to place by the door or windows alerting fire-rescue of your pets. NEVER go back into the home yourself to rescue your pets, leave that up to the professionals. Here are some great educational resources including children’s activities you can print out and help your kids with. As always remember to have smoke detectors on every level of your home, one in each room is ideal as they save lives! Check your batteries often and replace detectors at a minimum of every 10 years. |
